Who we are

This website is operated by Smart Home Innovations, LLC, which does business as Shinnova Solar, Shinnova Solar Kansas City and Shinnova Solar St. Louis (“Shinnova Solar,” “we,” “us” or “our”). This policy covers shinnovasolar.com and the inquiries you send us through it.

The short version

• We never sell your information.
• We use what you send us to answer your inquiry and to follow up with you about solar, battery storage and generators.
• The only thing we share for advertising is your email address, with Google, so we can show Shinnova Solar ads.
• You can ask us to stop contacting you, or to delete your information, at any time.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you fill out our contact form, we collect your first and last name, phone number, email address, street address, city, state and ZIP code. We also keep what you tell us when we talk with you about your project.

Information collected with your inquiry

When you submit the form, we also record the page you submitted it from, the page that referred you to our site, any campaign details in the link you followed (such as an ad or email campaign tag), and a session identifier stored in your browser that connects your visit to your inquiry.

Information collected as you browse

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use our site. It collects information such as the pages you view, how you arrived, your device and browser type, and your approximate location based on your IP address. It uses cookies to do this.

How we use it

• To respond to your inquiry, prepare an estimate, and schedule and carry out work you ask us for.
• To contact you by phone, text message and email about your inquiry and our products and services.
• To show Shinnova Solar ads, and to measure which pages and ads are working.
• To run, secure and improve our website.
• To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations, and to prevent fraud.

Calls, texts and email

When you give us your phone number and email address, you are asking us to contact you about your inquiry. Today, a Shinnova Solar advisor reaches out to you personally. We may also send automated text messages and emails about your inquiry and our services. Before we send you automated marketing text messages, we will ask for your consent, and that consent is never a condition of buying anything from us.

Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Reply STOP to any text message to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us to stop contacting you using the details at the end of this policy.

We do not sell or share your mobile number or your text-messaging consent with third parties for their own marketing.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these ways:

• Google, for advertising. We may give Google the email address you provided — not your name or phone number — and Google collects information through cookies when you visit our site. Google uses this to show Shinnova Solar ads to you, or to people with similar interests, and to tell us how our ads perform. Google's use of this information is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
• Service providers working for us. Companies that host our website and run the tools we use to manage inquiries, customer records, calls, texts and email. They handle your information only to provide those services to us.
• When the law requires it. To comply with a legal obligation or lawful request, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger, sale or reorganization of our business.

Cookies and your advertising choices

Cookies are small files your browser stores for a website. We use them for Google Analytics and Google advertising, and our site stores a session identifier in your browser to connect your visit to your inquiry. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; parts of the site may not work as expected if you do.

You can control the ads Google shows you at Google’s My Ad Center, and stop Google Analytics from collecting your visits with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. You can also ask us not to share your email address with Google for advertising.

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Our site does not currently respond to it.

Links to other websites

Our site links to websites we do not operate, including our online payment portal, which is run by Nickel. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as we need it to respond to your inquiry, serve you as a customer (including warranty and service work), and meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations. After that, we delete it or make it so it can no longer identify you.

How we protect it

Our site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS), and we use reasonable safeguards to protect the information we hold. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee its security.

Your choices

Wherever you live, you can ask us to:

• tell you what personal information we have about you;
• correct information that is wrong;
• delete your information;
• stop contacting you; or
• stop sharing your email address with Google for advertising.

Contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within 45 days. We may keep information we are required to keep by law.

Children

Our site is meant for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
